It's hard to know what is going to happen when an author attempts a novel in a different genre. This new novel shines a light on Ms. Russo Morin's brilliance as an artist. From the moment you open the pages, this story will sink into your skin, and you will be unable to shed the kinship you feel with the characters. Much like Tolkien, Russo Morin weaves an intricate world full of delightfully complex and magical beings. There is a balance between the pulsating love scenes, the dismally grotesque state of war, and the all to well known emotion of hate. She takes us on a wildly magical adventure towards the ever-desirous world of utopia. Through love, determination, sacrifice, and sheer will, a new world emerges into being. I couldn't put it down and cannot wait for the next in the series.

I really enjoyed reading Birth and watching different species of people fighting on opposite sides of a war come together as one to stop all the hate and violence to start a new life, society together. I would really like to check out the next book to see how this society grows. I would recommend Birth to anyone who likes fantasy novels.
